Bengali OCR বাংলা
Turn scanned Bengali (Bangla) pages into text you can search, edit and send to an AI assistant. Bengali's many conjunct letters (juktakkhor) are handled by the Bengali OCR model, and the output is plain Unicode Markdown.
● Runs in your browser. Your files are never uploaded..pdf.jpg.png.docx.xlsx.xls.csv.txtBengali and English are already selected. Add or remove languages in the box above.
Good for
- West Bengal land records, khatian and porcha copies
- Bengali books, magazines and newspaper cuttings
- Kolkata Municipal Corporation and state government notices
- School and university mark sheets
Tips for better Bengali results
- Bengali and English are both selected, since government and legal papers often mix them. Keep only Bengali for literature or newspapers.
- Conjunct letters are where errors show up first, so give the OCR a crisp, high-resolution scan.
- For Assamese documents, use the Assamese page instead: the script is shared, but Assamese has its own letters (ৰ and ৱ) that the Assamese model reads correctly.
How it works
- Drop a scanned PDF, photo or screenshot into the box above, or paste an image.
- Pages that already contain text are read directly. Scanned pages go through Bengali OCR in your browser.
- Download the result as a Markdown (.md) file, or copy it and paste it into ChatGPT, Claude, Word or Google Docs.
Questions
Is this Bengali OCR free?
Yes. Without an account you can convert 10 scanned pages a day, and a free account gives you 30. Pro removes the limit.
Are my Bengali documents uploaded anywhere?
No. OCR runs inside your browser. The Bengali language data is downloaded to your browser once, but your files never leave your device.
How accurate is Bengali OCR?
Clean, printed Bengali text at 300 dpi converts well. Handwriting, faint photocopies, stamps and decorative fonts reduce accuracy, so check names, numbers and dates against the original.
